Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Porou

Keri is the co-director for Tūānuku Ltd. Keri Topperwien is a highly skilled and experienced environmental advisor, researcher and facilitator. She completed her Masters thesis at Waikato University in 2008 which examined the flood responses and impacts on waahi tapu and iwi and hapū as a result of the 2005 Matata flood.
Since this time Keri has worked in several positions including as a researcher for the Waikato Regional Council, a lecturer of environmental planning at Waikato University and most recently as the Environmental Manager for Te Runanga o Ngāti Awa.
Keri has been a successful director of the Dream Chaser Foundation - a child cancer charity, for 7 years and through this work has led projects from securing funding, planning through to implementation and review. She continues to be active in the promotion and advocacy of improved health outcomes for Maori children with cancer.
Keri brings a unique set of skills to Tūānuku Ltd. which include expert knowledge of engagement strategies, facilitation skills, critical analysis of policy and plans, ability to review and respond to a range of pressing environmental concerns. She is a highly skilled writer with the ability to synthesise and easily share complex knowledge.
Keri is a mother to three and works first and foremost for her children and is privileged to be working as an advocate for them and their whenua.
Raukawa, Ngāti Huri
(Raukawa, Ngāti Huri)
Dr Naomi Simmonds (Raukawa, Ngāti Huri) is co-director of Tūānuku Ltd. She has an extensive research background and has worked with iwi and hapū on environmental management matters for nearly 15 years.
Naomi has expert knowledge on Kaupapa Māori methodologies. She has led the development of the Raukawa Environmental Management Plan, Ngāti Huri Environmental Strategy and contributed to the development of Raukawa Fisheries plan and a number of other iwi planning documents.
Naomi has been on a number of environmental advisory boards, including Para Kore, National Environmental Standards and the Iwi Leaders Freshwater advisory and was the Raukawa representative on the Waikato River Restoration Strategy project.
Naomi is also a senior researcher with Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi. Prior to this position she was a senior researcher with Te Kōtahi Research Institute and a lecturer with Te Pua Wānanga ki te Ao - the Faculty of Māori and Indigenous Studies at the University of Waikato. She is engaged in a range of Kaupapa Māori research projects pertaining to whānau (family) wellbeing, land-based learning, and tribal environmental management.
Naomi is a mother to two daughters and most of her spare time is spent at her ancestral home, Pikitū marae, in the South Waikato.
